Can't keep up with the new, hot, and hip on your coast? Us either. That's why we created this: From technology to fashion, we're your one stop shop for the latest in coastal trends.
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! This past week was very special because Sara and I saw each other in person in our home state of CO! Yes, it’s true that both coasts collided for a very full weekend packed with fun. To this day, I feel like I am recovering from the good times that were had out there, but I’m back on the West Coast now and ready to share more trends!
With the year coming to an end, I couldn’t help but read this NY Times article saying that this Congress was the least productive congress on record!
“The 113th Congress has passed all of 55 laws so far this year, seven fewer at this point than the 112th Congress.”
55 laws in one year?
Here’s to hoping Congress can agree on more next year!
Sara and I were together in Denver on Saturday night when we found out that Paul Walker had past away in a car crash. We were both shocked. The actor that I first loved in “She’s All That” and my favorite reason to watch the Fast and the Furious franchise films died at the age of 40.
I have been reading more about the actor, and I thought this story about him shows how genuine he was. :
CNN confirmed one story from a decade ago when Walker noticed a young U.S. soldier shopping with his fiancee for a wedding ring in a Santa Barbara jewelry store.
“The groom was just back from duty in Iraq, and he was going to be deployed again soon and wanted to buy a wedding ring, but he said he just could not afford it,” saleswoman Irene King told CNN. “I don’t think the soldier realized how expensive those rings are, about $10,000.”
The couple apparently did not know who Walker was, King said.
“Walker called the manager over and said, ‘Put that girl’s ring on my tab,'” she said. “Walker left all his billing info, and it was a done deal. The couple was stunned. She was thrilled and could not believe someone did this.”
After flying this week, I loved reading these live tweets from a feud in flight with Elen Gale and Diane in 7A. It started on November 28th. and went viral.https://twitter.com/theyearofelan
Then, to my surprise, it turns out it was all a hoax and completely made up.
This epic airplane feud that went viral with the help of twitter was not a real feud, and so this week, I couldn’t help but feel more skeptical towards social media. It is however amazing that we live in a time where we can use wifi on an airplane and share what is going on around us with complete strangers in real time. Will we be able to talk on cell phones next on flights? I wanted to find out for myself, and it turns out it is currently being debated.
“Imagine what it will be like to sit next to a person yammering on his or her cellphone.
That’s what many passengers and airline analysts are contemplating in light of the Federal Communications Commission’s decision to review its 22-year ban against in-flight cellphone calls.”
With Black Friday last week, Cyber Monday and all of the shopping craze for the holidays, I went online to look for gift ideas.
This year, Mashable put together a “15 Holiday Gifts That Give Back”, and I have been inspired.
Check out this Social Good Gift Guide:
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for my East Coast counterpart’s update too!
Happy belated Thanksgiving, I hope you all made it out of the inevitable food coma and let me be the first (after every consumer good business in the world) to welcome you to the holiday season! I was ecstatic to be able to reunite with my West coast partner in crime and get a little taste of home.
There’s been an odd, sort of trend happening this year drawing a correlation between public representatives and illegal substances. We have all heard about Rep. Antony Weiner but does everyone remember Trey Radel? The Republican Representative for Florida pled guilty to possession of cocaine two weeks ago, is taking a leave of absence from his duties to receive treatment, and to top it off, both his Communications & Digital Director have announced their move to Endeavor Strategic Communications, a public relations & communications firm founded by Kurt Bardella.
When it rains it poors but fingers crossed for better days for these public officials. Catch up on the story here: http://www.politico.com/story/2013/11/kurt-bardella-firm-trey-radel-staffers-100342.html
Dec. 20 is the day we have all been waiting for, for the past decade. Ok, we’ve probably all really moved on but ANCHORMAN 2 IS COMING!!

I wasn’t sure whether it was more appropriate to report this under technology or fashion, primarily because I discovered the news on TechCrunch (which I love) but given this is one of the most infamous fashion shows of the year, I’m confident that this is the proper heading. I’ve been hearing a lot of hype around this year’s fashion show which will takes place on Dec. 10, but of particular note is a 3D printed piece for the snowflake-themed segment of the show. Technology +Fashion = Epic Inventions
A patent has just been granted to Apple for a facial recognition feature that may be able to unlock a your cell phone and control the way it works. Whoa. But it is Apple, so what do we expect, really.

I was shocked when my best friend sent me a text message telling me that Paul Walker had been in a car accident and passed away. I’m amazed at how quickly organizations have been able to capitalize and mobilize as a result of the tragedy with ‘PaulWalker Movies’ Comcast On Demand and a portion of Fast and the Furious 6 proceeds going to Paul Walker’s charity ‘Reach Out Worldwide’ which helps in international disaster situations like Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
